How to do a dungeon quest.

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Recently in Warcraft I’ve been spending a lot of time doing dungeon quests for my Tauren Druid. It’s like a whole other part of the game to explore. Most I just use the random dungeon finder, which is an easy way to from a group. I just do the healing. So far I only got wiped twice. One time it was Blackfathom Deeps which only happened because the tank pulled too many mobs and then when we all died, he left the group. The other was in Stormwind Stockade, which sucked because then you spend about 15 minutes running back from the SW edge of Elwynn Forest.

So anyways, if you’re going to do some dungeons through the random dungeon finder, be sure to watch this video to prepare yourself for the experience (which I think is the funniest Warcraft related video ever):

World of Running Around.

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

I just did this quest in Warcraft. I thought what he said when I turned it in was great:

They’ll do. Likely I won’t even need them.

But it was fun watching you run around at my command.

Hahahaha! At that point, I realized that the entire game was me running around at the NPC’s commands. Go kill Hogger. Go kill those guys and bring me their ears (even though they won’t all drop ears). Go get me those weeds from the oasis that’s surrounded by centaurs so I can finish my potion.

March of the Plainstriders.

Found this video today about the lives of the Plainstriders in Warcraft.

Weekend Stuff.

Monday, February 8th, 2010

On Friday I drove to St. Louis to hang out with Jennie and John for the weekend. We went out and had crab at a Crabshack place. It was good, but I wouldn’t have it more than once a year or so. We then watched The Hangover, which was funny, but not for everyone. The Mike Tyson cameo was the best part.

On Saturday night we went to the Blues game against the Blackhawks. The Blues got totally screwed by a stupid ref who couldn’t see the puck and that cost the Blues a goal. So instead of regulation ending with a tie, the Blackhawks went home with a 2-1 win. We also went to the Hardrock Cafe, which is tasty.

On Sunday we had the Super Bowl party. It was hard to care too much about the game since I honestly didn’t care much about who won. I’m glad the Saints won since they never won it all before and all that. But I would have been glad if the Colts and Peyton Manning had won it too. He’s a very cool guy. During the party a 3 or 4 year old boy got really interested in World of Warcraft. So he asked what you could be. So I put my guy away and went along and showed him the “Create a new character” page and I showed him what he could be. I teased him a little saying he looked like a Gnome. His older brother told me to make a Tauren hunter. So I did. And they thought it was really cool he had a gun. But he kept pushing me to be a zombie (The Forsaken in the game). So I made up an Undead Warrior for him, he couldn’t be a Warlock or anything like that because those guys are wearing dresses and he said they couldn’t have hair because that’s girly too. So I started doing quests with the bald warrior when he said he wanted a guy with two daggers. So I quit on that guy and made an Undead Rogue for him and did a few quests. At that point, my laptop ran out of power and the football game was hitting the middle of the fourth quarter and I wanted to see what happened so I told him that’s it for today and he got up and did other stuff ’till his grandma wanted to leave. After everyone left, Jennie and John put on Family Guy and I fell asleep during it.

This morning I woke up and started reading through teh blogz and I looked outside and noticed it was snowing out. I thought I better get going. So I quickly packed up and left at about 6:45. It’s amazing how much worse the roads were in Missouri compared to Iowa. Missouri, the roads were about 1/2 covered in snow. In Iowa, crossed the border and the roads were all clear. Also in Southern Iowa, I noticed a giant billboard that had a green background and in white had the name Jesus. That Jesus guy sure is narcissistic for putting his name up on a billboard like that. Got back to Dubuque around 1:00 and had everything unpacked and put away by 2:00.

Now back to my regularly scheduled programming.

Star Trek Online? Who’s playing?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I love this story about how Star Trek Online has 1 million players already. Then if you read the three comments submitted, they completely destroy the story. Why should I buy Star Trek Online? Blizzard had the brains to put the PC and Mac versions of World of Warcraft on the same disc. Apparently, Cryptic Studios decided to make a PC version and get it out there as fast as they could, ignoring an entire segment of the computer using world. I can’t imagine that STO will be as good as WoW. Mostly because it’s Star Trek and Star Trek at this point is really passé.

The best WoW moment ever.

So tonight I was questing in the Eastern and Western Plaguelands when I decided to call it a night and head back to Orgrimmar and get trained since I got to level 56 right before I decided to quit. I got on my new wolf mount (thanks to me being exalted in Orgrimmar) and rode to the zepplin tower near Under City.

I stop there and waited for the Zepplin when this level 1 Blood Elf Rogue named “Buutmunch” asked if he could ride the wolf with me. I said “No” and he said I was mean. He said that he had two daggers and would munch on my butt with them. The zepplin came and we both got on board. I then challenged him to a duel. I thought for sure he’d decline. He accepted. It was an amazing fight. Over in less than 1 second. He asked what happened and I said “I won”. He then asked “how, you didn’t even touch me”. I said “I know.” I tried to explain why, mostly that he was a level 1 and I was a level 56. He then said he wanted a pet and I said you’d have to be a hunter to get one.

Noobs who don’t know what the fuck they’re doing are funny like that. I bet the game is confusing him. Oh well it was a fun moment.

What my dream says about me.

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Last night I had a weird dream. I was on a date with a girl who wanted a tour of the local monastery (Yeah, that makes sense…) when I suddenly found a secret wing of the building filled with centaurs and satyrs. The centaurs seemed sort of relaxed and calm about everything. The satyrs seemed sort of secretive and unwilling to talk about anything. Also the monks weren’t building the caskets, the centaurs were.

Then the monks explained that they used to live in the Vatican. They were too busy hiding them from Hitler to hide Jews in WW2.

Then I woke up and I realized that I play World of Warcraft too much.

First of 2010…

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Oh yeah, I kinda forgot about the blog. Um. stuff happened, mostly WoW playing and ummm..yeah.

On New Year’s eve while playing WoW, my computer started making a loud buzzing noise that vibrated the computer and it was kind of scary. I put it to sleep and put it aside for a few minutes. It stopped making the noise, but it’s had a weird almost grinding type noise since then. Then today and tonight it made the big loud buzzing noise again. Both times, I put it in sleep mode, waited a few minutes and started it up again. It’s very annoying and kinda scary. I might have to haul it up to Madison to get the Mac store to take a look at it and fix it. I don’t have the extended warranty so if cost a lot to fix it, I might have been better off getting the warranty. Oh well. My fault, I should have gotten it when I bought the dang thing.

I also went to see Avatar tonight finally. I had sort of planned on seeing it for the past two weeks, but holiday and work stuff came up. Last week, I wanted to try to go there on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night and all three nights I didn’t get done early enough to shower and drive in. If I had known there would be so many ads, I probably could have seen it earlier. I wasn’t going to go there on a Friday or Saturday night. Sunday or Monday nights are probably the best nights to see movies. Only people who want to see the movie show up on those nights. Friday and Saturday you get a lot of annoying people there. Those people stay home on Sunday night, it seems.

As for Avatar, it’s an amazing visual movie. There’s lots of stuff in it. The best way to see it is in 3-D (if there’s no I-Max near by). I’m a glasses guy and I think today was the first time where I wished I had contacts, it would have made watching the movie easier. But after a while I had forgot that I had two pairs of glasses on. I tried it without the regular glasses and it was blurry. So yeah, if you got contacts and are seeing the 3D, make sure you wear them instead of glasses. Or just get laser vision correctness before you go see the 3D version….

I haven’t played WoW yet tonight and it’s still making loud noises. I’m thinking I might have to call up the Madison Apple Store and see about getting it repaired. Typical. I finally get some money from the health insurance thing and I’ll have to spend it or at least some of it.

I’d like to clean her pipes.

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

So yeah, on Sunday night the drains in the parlor got clogged up. When mom did laundry the next morning, more water came in to the parlor while we were milking. So instead of calling up the plumber man right away, we spent about two hours pushing a long metal rod in to the pipes to knock out the clog. So at that point the boss man called the plumber man and he couldn’t make it yesterday. So he finally came today and the tool he used was better and it worked right away. I was told the final bill was almost $400. I find it hard to believe they’ll spend 6 figures on a new combine, but bitch about a 3 digit bill to fix something we use every day. We only use the combine for about two months a year and yet the pipe cleaning was a rip off, even though we use the drain pipes.

Speaking of the man, I had a weird dream last night where Dad and Ed were playing World of Warcraft and they were totally kicking my ass and stuff. I was ready to get a new character and not tell them about it. Speaking of getting my ass kicked, I got killed 6 times today by other players. Once early this morning. Once at lunch time and four times by these jerks who were raiding Tarren Mill tonight. They sucked.

So yeah, I suppose that’s all for now. Just been playing lots of World of Warcraft and sleeping and working. But that’s about it.

Make pizza, not Warcraft.

So this afternoon I called up the credit union and asked them to unblock Blizzard so that I could get them the payment and start playing. And I got the person on the phone who could do that. So she said that they can now accept the charge and I went along and tried it and it didn’t work. She said wait a while and try again. So I waited 1/2 hour and that didn’t work so I’m now on hold again with the World of Warcraft billing department to see what the fuck is the matter now.

Who thought paying $5 for something could be so much fucking trouble. When the time comes, I’m just going to get the 60 day prepaid cards or use paypal instead of wasting my time on this shit again.

UPDATE 4:50 PM: It’s finally working. It was stupid. My credit union blocks charges from World of Warcraft, which I got lifted so I can finally get my regular account going and World of Warcraft was blocking my card because I had tried too many times and it had been rejected too many times. So after spending an hour on hold this afternoon, I got to a Customer Service Rep and the call dropped. She immediately called me back, which was nice. So now I have my plans ready for tonight. World of Warcraft until I fall asleep at my computer.

UPDATE 11:47 PM: Ok, change of plans. World of Warcraft until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. But I’m still awake.
