Dry credit…

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

We keep hearing that credit is drying up. Is it? I would think that banks are probably as anxious as ever to give out car, house and student loans, as long as you have good credit and can pay the loan back. I mean, the lots are still all full of cars to sell. Something tells me that Americans aren’t being cut off, it’s the Americans who are cutting off the dealers and banks. I think a lot of Americans are tired of borrowing money to get what they want. There seems to be a desire to move away from easy credit and a return to economic sanity that neither of the two presidential candidates are willing to embrace since both of them were cheerleading the multi-billion dollar bailout…

Weekends and stuff.

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I can’t believe it’s been a week since I got the new MacBook. It feels like I’ve only had it for a day or two. It’s pretty awesome. It’s light weight and it’s fast. I was thinking of buying some games for it this weekend, but I never did. Oh well.In the World Series, it’s almost over. the Phillies will likely close it down for the year with a win tonight. Can’t lose with a well rested Cole Hammels and Brad Lidge going up against a Rays team that has suddenly become a team that can’t hit. Longoria, one of the reasons the Rays got to the World Series is suddenly really bad. Going 0 for 16 with 9 stirkeouts and Carlos Pena is equally bad with an 0 for 13 with 6 stirkeouts. Upton isn’t hitting all that well, Baldelli isn’t hitting and generally it’s not going well for the Rays. Only Carl Crawford is the only hitter showing up for this series. Iwamura, the Rays 2B is making a load of errors as well. Last night, I quit after the first Ryan Howard home run, looks like all I missed was the Phill’s pitcher hitting a home run too. Oh well, when the Rays are hitting .187 and the Phillies are hitting .263, it’s easy to see who will win this one.

Oh yeah and the Giants should send the referees from the game yesterday a pay check since it was pretty clear the Refs were pretty much working for the Giants during that game, those were pretty stupid penalty calls. The one where the Steelers should have scored a TD made no fucking sense at all.

New MacBook and stuff.

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Well first of all the new MacBook arrived on Monday morning. I haven’t had a lot of play time with it yet because there has been a lot of work to do in the meantime. So yeah, I can say it’s pretty freaking awesome and really fast compared to the old iBook I used to have. The only thing that I don’t like is the new no button glass track pad. It will on occasion quit working and then start again. I hope Apple will fix this problem soon. Otherwise it’s pretty awesome. I love the backlit keyboard and the magnet for the power cord. I’m tempted to go to a Mac Store and buy a cool game for it, but I don’t have time right now…In other news, the World Series starts tonight. I gotta say that after three of the last four World Series ending in four games and the other one ending in five games, I would love to see a seven game series. Something long and drawn out with a few walk off home runs….go to game 7 with no idea who’s gonna come out ahead.

Rays of Hope….

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

So the Rays are able to do in their 11th season what the Cubs haven’t done in 64 seasons. If the Rays, a team that was just as bad as the Pirates until this year could go to the World Series, so could the Pirates.Of course the Pirates are a big mess, the result of 20 years of mismanagement after Syd Thrift was stupidly fired. They got a lot of work to do to get to that level the Rays have reached. The cool thing is that last year’s number one overall pick, David Price, who was picked by the Rays was on the mound when the last out was made. That has to be pretty awesome.

I love the cowbells that the Rays fans have. I bet that a lot of Red Sox nation will have cow bell related nightmares for a while.

Big difference between the final games of the NLCS and ALCS. The Phillies win over the Dodger just made me sleep. I woke up after the game was over. Meanwhile, this game I tuned in with the Sox up 1-0 and even though I was almost tempted to watch some cross town action with the Seahawks at the Tampa Bay Bucs when I saw that score, I just couldn’t look away.

Oh well, great game and there’s few teams in Major League Baseball (Pirates, Royals, Nationals) that more deserve a chance at the World Series than the Rays.

And on top of all this, my new MacBook will likely get here tomorrow morning. I want a lot of rain so I have some time to play with it and do stuff. But I want to not rain because we need to get work done around here…

Weekend Updates.

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Hawkeyes won again. It’s pretty cool when they win. Especially against Wisconsin. Brought the Heartland trophy back home again. Wisconsin was just terrible today, the couldn’t tackle very well, their QB threw two interceptions to the same guy and generally looked very confused. Shon Greene was awesome today. He looked like the Jerome Bettis out there, just knocking everyone over and running over all those Wisconsin guys to a few TD’s.The MacBook is in Indy this weekend and will probably stay there until Monday. I might get it late Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. It didn’t take from China until about 2:00 in the morning Friday (3:00 in the afternoon their time), showed up in Anchorage about 4:00 in the afternoon and then left there for Indy around 9:00 and showed up there about 1:00 in the morning. It’s funny to think that my computer gets to go to cooler places than I do, I mean Shanghai, Anchorage and Indianapolis. Sounds like a nice vacation if you wanna spend big money and spend almost all of it in airplanes….

But I think if I were an airplane pilot, I would wanna work with UPS or FedEx just shipping goods instead of people. If the plane crashes, I don’t take lots of innocent people with me. I don’t have to worry about terrorist hijacking the plane because it’s just me and another pilot. Of course there’s probably a downside I’m not seeing here. From my point of view it’s probably a really plum job.

I wonder what they mean by Express in Federal Express.

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Oh wait, I just looked it up on wikipedia, it’s just FedEx now. it’s no longer Federal Express. It’s 9:30 in the morning in China right now and even though it showed up too late to be shipped yesterday I was hoping that it’d be shipped first thing in the morning today and get to this part of the country by early morning in our part of the world.Yeah, just waiting….

Waiting game sucks.

Dem Bums…

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Wow, the Dodgers really are bums tonight. Yeah, they haven’t really been called the Bums since they left Brooklyn after the 1957 season, but tonight, it’s an apt description. I mean, how many errors can they make in one inning? I think there was three tonight. Furcal at SS kicked a double play ball and that let a run score. Then there was the easy out at first that Loney couldn’t catch. They get two guys on in the 7th with two outs and Jeff Kent strikes out looking. In the bottom of the 9th, they hit two balls to he wall, but are caught by the Phills. It’s like if the Cubs are cursed, then they probably gave it to the Dodgers…

Fuck you Apple, how give me a MacBook.

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

First there’s a really bad iPhone commercial. Yeah. They’re picking on us.I bought a new MacBook today! It’s gonna be fucking awesome. They had a press conference announcing the new Apple Notebooks today so I spent sometime watching live blogging of the event and spent about 20 minutes refreshing the apple store website until the new stuff came up. It’s supposed to be here between Friday and next Thursday. I hope it’s here on Friday. That’d be a great way to spend the weekend.

Oh well I’m glad to be finally switching back to Mac again. Vista sucks and this HP keyboard is stupid.

No one single subject, all over the place.

MacRumors has put up a story that says there will be a media event on Tuesday afternoon that will unveil new Mac notebooks. I was thinking of buying Sean’s, but I really wanted to see what they were releasing first, if they’d be more interesting and cheaper than what Sean has, also he spilt pop on his, which didn’t make me wanna buy it. If they have a new MacBook for $1300 and Sean wants $1500 for his MacBook Pro, I think I’ll take the new computer instead. Plus it’ll be covered for three years. In other news, I think Commissioner Bud Selig is full of shit. So let’s see if I got this right, they have the two LCS, it has been since 1985 2-3-2, meaning one team hosts the first two and last two games while the other team hosts the middle three games. Up until last year, the middle three were played three days in a row. But now, Selig has decided that there needs to be an extra day off during the three game stretch for some dumb fucking reason. There’s some things that should remain the same…

Also, Fox has their typical baseball music. I mean, I’ve heard it all season on the multiple Fox Sports channels during baseball games. They’ve seemed to have dropped it for really cheesy dramatic music that they played a few times during the All-Star game. Why change it for the NLCS? I mean this isn’t that dramatic, it’s just the Phillies and Dodgers, they just played each other in the NLCS back in 83.

Also, I love the idea of pitchers and other baseball players holding their gloves over their mouths in order to stop the other team from reading their lips. Yeah, if I’m up to bat, even if I could see you talk, I’m pretty sure I’m not smart enough to figure out what you’re saying based on your lip movement. I’m not gonna guess in the off chance that I’m wrong.

Oh yeah for some dumb reason, I’m reading Bill O’Reilly’s latest column. He’s going on about the economy, he complains “the government failed to warn us about impending disaster.” Huh. Yeah, because predicting doom and gloom is so good for the economy. I mean, if you get the Treasury Secretary out there predicting gloom and doom, the stock market will drop for a couple hours. And even if you knew that something bad could happen, how can you warn people specifically about it?

Ron Paul’s been talking about it for years. Talking about how easy credit and inflationary fiat currency and no gold standard could cause problems. Of course did anyone pay attention to him? No. Did O’Reilly have him come in and talk about it on his TV show? Nope. And even if he did I’m pretty sure O’Reilly would have spent the entire segment interrupting him the whole time about how great the economy is and that everything is just fine.

I guess that’s all for now…

I love rumors.

Ok, last night I was at Sean’s have the big bad ass debate party (we had some BLT pizza from Happy Joe’s and watched CNN for a few hours.) After eating we all sat down in the living room after the pizza to get set to watch the debate thing. Before it started, Sean spilled some pop on his laptop computer and perhaps ruined it.This morning, dad asked me if anything happened there and I told him about that.

So, I just wonder this evening when Ed came in to milk cows how that basic story changed from what I just wrote to me kicking Sean and that causing him to spill his beer all over his computer. I mean, what the fuck? Where did the me kicking him come from? And beer? Huh? Sean doesn’t drink beer. I drink beer, but I usually keep it some place away from computers. And it’s not like this story went around the entire family, got emailed, phoned around and went through a bunch of people who we don’t know and then was talked about on CNN and then was on Rush Limbaugh’s show. I mean, me to dad to Ed and yet the story changes so much that it no longer makes sense.
