Well the Pirates season is over. Has been for a few hours. To review: it sucked. At least last year had the whole second half surge and Freddy winning the NL batting title. This year had nothing memorable at all. Just another season where the Pirates accomplish very little. The final month of season had more interesting things going on in the front office than on the field. To be honest, this team had and still has the poteintal to win between 75 and 85 games. They should be in 2nd or 3rd place right now. Not last place. I’d say because of injuries and bad luck and a terrible start and a terrible late July, their record can’t be used in gauging how good or bad they are. Despite being 40-48 going in to the break with a glimmer of hope that if they played in the 2nd half like they did the year before they could have a winning season; the Pirates went 28-46 to finish the season. Good bye winning season and playoffs. In other baseball related news. The Rockies are gonna play the slumping Padres in a one game playoff to determine the Wild Card Team. I hope the Rockies win. It’s been so long for them and they’re probably my 2nd favorite NL team; which is pretty hard to accomplish (be an NL team that’s not the Pirates and like them at the same time). Most NL East and Central teams already piss me off. Don’t like the Dodgers or Giants. Leaving just the Diamondbacks, Rockies and Padres. I like the Rockies and I like Colorado (even though I’ve never been there). Personally, I’d like to see a Rockies/Indians World Series, with the Indians winning in 5. Most likely to make me wanna leave and go do something stupid like skiing? Cubs/Yankees. Most likely to put me to sleep: Red Sox/Diamondbacks. Most likely to have no effect on me at all and not care one bit about the World Series: Phillies/Angels.

Tap the Rockies!
Sunday, September 30th, 2007Worst Team Ever!
Saturday, September 29th, 2007Well, the Pirates are one loss away from obtaining the 2nd overall pick in the 2008 Draft. They really need a high pick to get a good impact player. With Ed Creech all but gone from the scouting department, perhaps now we can get a guy who will help the Pirates in a few years.I’m watching this thing on NFL Network about the Worst NFL Teams ever. One of them was the 96 New York Jets. In the draft that year, they passed on Warren Sapp to get Kyle Brady. The result was the Jets fans pissed off as hell about it. Yeah, sounds like the Pirates passing on Matt Weiters to get Dan Moskos. The big difference being that Kyle Brady is a legitimate NFL player. Moskos? Might never be one…
Let’s see if the Bucs can get a Bill Parcels-esque manager to take over and transform the Priates in to a real baseball team…
CNN BREAKING NEWS!!! REALLY IMPORTANT!!!
Saturday, September 29th, 2007AHHHHHH!!!!! Clearly the most important news story of the last century. Of course I can’t think of any other good reason to head up to Fond Du Lac. I think they should call Homeland Security, set up the cameras and get big mean vicious dogs to hunt out and find this destroyer of freedom!Of course it’d be funny if it was the Mayor or one of the security guys at the building. Oh well.
Still fucking important as hell!
Also Property Ladder is just too much fun and too much evil for words to describe. Oh this is a fun Saturday night…
The Jerry Financial Times.
Saturday, September 29th, 2007Well, things are going well financially. I just this morning mailed the final check to pay off the credit card: $906.89! No longer will I bother with the Credit Card as a source of “fun”. I mean, I usually bought fun things on the credit card: HDTV, iBook, vacations, groceries, etc. At times when they denied my US Bank Check Card for various and idiotic reasons, I had the credit card there to pay for it instead.
Personally, I prefer the debit card over the “cash envelope” system Dave Ramsey talks about. I’m usually very hesitant to use it a lot because I’m always thinking I can’t afford anything with it and then I’ll get with an over draft charge of some kind.
Back from work, almost five hours after I wrote the other stuff up there…
Damn it. I always wanted to call my future, doesn’t exist yet political discussion show “The No Shit Zone” because honestly, gotta go to the bathroom to take a shit, right? Damn Bill Maher for stealing the name of my show that I haven’t copy righted yet. I think the big problem with Bill O’Idiot is that he seems to believe everything you need to know about black people you can learn from shitty rap music. He’s a moron…
Ok, that’s all for now. I’m off to save the universe and drink more beer.
It’s only happened 1,322 times since 1992…
Friday, September 28th, 2007Well, the Pirates lost #92 for the year. They’ve clinced last place for the 6th time since 1992. They’ve lost 90+ games for the third straight year. And it’s time for the new Pirates GM Neal Huntington, hired on Tuesday, to take on the huge and painful job of rebuilding this team. He has a lot of work ahead of him. Littlefield was a terrible GM who never recognized the fact that his team wasn’t good enough to compete and that the only way to rebuild this franchise would be to blow it up and start over from scratch. Time to chop off the dead weight and rebuild with a whole new group of prospects and young players. Of course it might not work. It didn’t work in 1997-2000. They never went at it full speed and were never able to develop the prospects to become real Major League stars. Ultimately, the big difference between the 2007 Pirates and the 1985 Pirates is that the 85 Pirates had drafted Barry Bonds that summer. That’s the killer, they need to draft a Barry Bonds to get things going again. They failed with that 10 years ago and they’re failing on that level now…The Cubs are about to return to the playoffs again for the first time since 2003. The Brewers are down to the Padres right now and if they lose they’ll be finished for the season and the Cubs will be going to the playoffs. So nice for the Cubs. All they have to do is buy their way back to the playoffs. But because they lost two more games than the Pirates last year, they get an earlier draft pick this past June and they got a way better pick. I mean it just seems wrong, the Cubs fans have had it so good these past 10 years. They’re the ones going to the playoffs three times. They get all the best managers to show up for a job. They’ve had a few giant stars go their way (Sosa, Woods, Prior, Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, etc). I don’t get how they can possibly complain. They compete most seasons and they have a bunch of big names playing for them. So yeah, Cubs fans are almost all whiners. The Pirates haven’t won in my life time so really on that level, it’s almost exactly the same. Except, I have a DVD of when they did win it all, but that was a long, long time ago. Possibly in a galaxy far, far away.
So now the Pirates should try to lose the last two games in an attempt to get the second overall pick in the draft. They can go anywhere from 2nd to 6th in the draft. I hope they get 2nd. After that bullshit back in June, they need another high pick. Of course they went 6th in 85 and they got Bonds with that pick….
Oh well, they just need a good pick and they need not to cheap out and do anything fucking stupid like last year. Tired now. Time for go to bed!
3 Weeks in.
Monday, September 24th, 2007Well, the NFL Season is three weeks in and so far it’s great news for the Steelers. It’s too bad I haven’t seen any of the games yet. CBS, Fox, ESPN and NBC seem to be in love with the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys. Yeah, both teams are farther away than Pittsburgh. Next week’s game is not on TV around here, either. The week after is a not sure yet, but it’s likely Fox will have the Packers or Bears or Vikings on instead of the Steelers….Week 6 is a bye. Week 7 is on NBC…finally. Week 9 is on ESPN. Week 12 and 13 ESPN and NBC. Week 16 will be on NFL Network. So it looks like 5 games at least with several games on CBS which, I hope, Channel 2 will show at least a few of these games….
Kansas City is getting a ton of air time around here….and they suck. I’ve been able to see more Pirates game on TV than Steelers games, which is non-sense.
But yeah, Mike Tomlin is awesome. I like him a lot. The cool thing about the Steelers is that no matter what, they always pick the right guy for the job when it comes to head coach. The Steelers just always have this expectation that they will win and that they always demand the best out of everyone. Tomlin brings that attitude as well; which is great for the Steelers. So different from the Pirates.
So the Pirates dropped 9 in a row. Unlike last year, they’re just being dragged to the finish line. They gotta face Arizona tomorrow (Tuesday) and then St. Louis to finish the season off this weekend. Then there’s the GM thing which is just getting confusing at this point. First they hired one. Then they didn’t. Then they did. They moved the press conference back a day to Tuesday. It seems nobody knows what the hell is going on here. Oh well, wait and see, I guess….
I can’t believe I blogged the whole thing…
Saturday, September 22nd, 2007So, Jennie’s here…We went out to eat at Applebee’s tonight and we were ordering the drinks. Mom, Dad and Jesse had ordered their drinks without needing to pop out the ID to prove they were old enough. Dad and Mom are old. Jesse looks old…
So it got to me and I said what I wanted and the guy said “I need to see your ID” so I grabbed the wallet and kinda had this “tired of ID checking” attitude about it and then he said “You look the youngest so I gotta check it”. Big slam on Jennie. She did not take that well. The guy reassured her that he was gonna check hers too.
So that was the highlight of my day. Jennie looks older than me to a waiter at Applebee’s. Hahaha! I so win.
No wonder 19 and 20 year old girls are so willing to go out with me. I look their age and yet I probably act a lot better than most 19 and 20 year old guys. I’m not entirely sure on the acting my age part, though. But most of them can be seen with me and there’s no “he’s robbing the cradle” attitude or looks there. Or as Professor Farnsworth once said “She’s robbing the grave”.
To be honest, I haven’t really changed my look since I was 21 years old. I probably haven’t gotten noticeably older at all. Same clothes, jeans, t-shirt, glasses, Nikes, etc. Eventually, I’m gonna reach this point where I look too old to be hanging out in jeans and t-shirt…I think.
Yep, that’s all for now. Oh yeah, the Pirates are still doing terrible, but what else is new? Yeah, this is getting old. We’re entering season #16 since a winning one and a playoff one. Some said that if there is a GM that can turn this team around they’d be a hero. Dejan then said that he would be a hero, he’d be a legend. Yep, that’s what it’ll take. Oh well, I am ready for some football!
Jerry Creek II: And the Legend Continues.
Thursday, September 20th, 2007We should make weekends about three days long and weekdays four days long. Yeah, it’ll suck for business and all that, but man, I could use a three day weekend. I could use a weekend, period. So, I watched The Office tonight. Next Thursday is the big day, The Office has a new episode on one week from tonight. I’m just really pumped about the whole thing in all. I hate how long it is between TV seasons. The previous one ended in May and it’s taken about 4 months to get to the new season and all that. Well, it’s better than Battlestar Galactica. Usually they wait a freaking year and it seems every year the show isn’t as good as the previous year. And they’re taking a lot longer. No idea when the previous season ended, but they’re still about four months until next season, it’s really kinda sad on their part.
I love what Jake told me on Saturday night. He doesn’t go to Strip Clubs anymore because he has to pay for his motorcycle. He seems very determined to lose his money. I mean, if not naked girls, then Harley should get it. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for Naked Girls getting money just for being naked. Not the smartest thing to spend money on, but I can think of worse things. Most of them involve either religion, politics or girlfriends. And I’m all for Harley selling cool bikes and making some money for it. I just find it a bit disquieting that people seem so careless about money. I remember something James Randi said. He was able to disprove this faith healing scam artist and he had people write up and say “Good job, clearly this guy was a fraud. We’re gonna send our money to this other minister instead.”
I’d continue, but I’m falling asleep early tonight for some reason. Perhaps all that work and of course, sleeping late last night.
Yeah!
Tuesday, September 18th, 2007Great article about what a bunch of bullshit the baby boomers are and such…
It only took 6 years…
Monday, September 17th, 2007Only with the Pirates does it take 6 years to figure out that the leading college home run hitter shouldn’t be a pitcher. I had to wonder what Dave Littlefield was thinking keeping him as a pitcher all these years. It might take a few years to get him back as a hitter, but I think it would be a better bet for the Pirates at this point. Oh well, mark that off as another fucked up draft that did nothing for the Pirates.Long weekend. It consisted mostly of work and such. We filled the silo with corn silage and topped it off yesterday. So that’s another thing done for the year. We still got the fourth hay crop, but that could be about a week away still. The hay is pretty short at this point.
Saturday night was a big party and such. It was a pretty good party. The hamburgers were good and there was free beer. Well, free for me, that is…
Yesterday was pretty good for the Steelers. They won 26-3. They seem to have Rothlisberger off to a good start as QB. They got their offense going full throttle; which is a good sign. Their defense has been great so far, only giving up 10 points in 2 games. I like this Mike Tomlin guy a lot…
