The weekend.

Tuesday, June 29th, 2010

Big weekend. On Saturday we went to the Brewers-Mariners game in Milwaukee. We first went to the Miller Brewery and had some beer and went on the tour and stuff. Their tour wasn’t nearly as good as the Budweiser tour I took last year. They both handed out free beer. But I think the cool thing about the Budweiser tour was that they showed pretty much everything and there was just more stuff to show.

Miller had two different movies and they really didn’t show all that much. The only unique things about the Miller tour was that Miller had some really old caves they used to store the beer in because the caves were cold and they showed the warehouse where all the beer was before shipping. That place was gigantic. I mean it was huge. Really gave a great perspective on how much beer they make in a day.

We go to the stadium about 45 minutes before the start of the game and we grilled up some food and sat in some lawn chairs. I bought a grill last week and it ended up making some pretty tasty food. I was pretty happy that everything went well. After we ate, the grill cooled off pretty fast because it was a gas grill and by the time we cleaned up and got ready to go inside it had cooled off. The game itself really wasn’t all that interesting considering it had two teams I really didn’t care about. I was glad to see the Mariners win because the Brewers are in the same division as the Pirates. The seats were nice because they were in the shade the whole game and stuff.

When the game was over, we drove over to downtown and saw the lakefront. After that we drove pretty much straight back to Iowa.

On Sunday we went to a wedding. It was cousins wedding. I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to go or not. I really don’t know her that well and it was about 1.5 hours away, in Cedar Falls. My sister talked me in to going so that her boyfriend wouldn’t get bored. It was a pretty good wedding. The ceremony was at a theater and the reception was at a ball room outside of town.

On the ride home we watched Field of Dreams and then we played some Trivia Pursuit at home, which I won and then finally got to bed around 1:00 in the morning.

So yeah today was back to normal which is nice.

Oh, 11 days ago I reached level 80 in Warcraft with my very first character. It’s really different now. There’s no more experience points and so I spend most of my time doing dungeons and stuff. I’ve also done a lot of fishing in the game. And I’ve kind of just screwed around. Another nice thing is that it seems like quests are handing out more gold when ya do quests at level 80 since you’re not getting experience points anymore.

Also I finally got the delicious chocolate cake recipe this morning. But it’s a total lie.

How to do a dungeon quest.

Monday, June 14th, 2010

Recently in Warcraft I’ve been spending a lot of time doing dungeon quests for my Tauren Druid. It’s like a whole other part of the game to explore. Most I just use the random dungeon finder, which is an easy way to from a group. I just do the healing. So far I only got wiped twice. One time it was Blackfathom Deeps which only happened because the tank pulled too many mobs and then when we all died, he left the group. The other was in Stormwind Stockade, which sucked because then you spend about 15 minutes running back from the SW edge of Elwynn Forest.

So anyways, if you’re going to do some dungeons through the random dungeon finder, be sure to watch this video to prepare yourself for the experience (which I think is the funniest Warcraft related video ever):

World of Running Around.

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

I just did this quest in Warcraft. I thought what he said when I turned it in was great:

They’ll do. Likely I won’t even need them.

But it was fun watching you run around at my command.

Hahahaha! At that point, I realized that the entire game was me running around at the NPC’s commands. Go kill Hogger. Go kill those guys and bring me their ears (even though they won’t all drop ears). Go get me those weeds from the oasis that’s surrounded by centaurs so I can finish my potion.

March of the Plainstriders.

Found this video today about the lives of the Plainstriders in Warcraft.

Star Trek Online? Who’s playing?

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

I love this story about how Star Trek Online has 1 million players already. Then if you read the three comments submitted, they completely destroy the story. Why should I buy Star Trek Online? Blizzard had the brains to put the PC and Mac versions of World of Warcraft on the same disc. Apparently, Cryptic Studios decided to make a PC version and get it out there as fast as they could, ignoring an entire segment of the computer using world. I can’t imagine that STO will be as good as WoW. Mostly because it’s Star Trek and Star Trek at this point is really passé.

The best WoW moment ever.

So tonight I was questing in the Eastern and Western Plaguelands when I decided to call it a night and head back to Orgrimmar and get trained since I got to level 56 right before I decided to quit. I got on my new wolf mount (thanks to me being exalted in Orgrimmar) and rode to the zepplin tower near Under City.

I stop there and waited for the Zepplin when this level 1 Blood Elf Rogue named “Buutmunch” asked if he could ride the wolf with me. I said “No” and he said I was mean. He said that he had two daggers and would munch on my butt with them. The zepplin came and we both got on board. I then challenged him to a duel. I thought for sure he’d decline. He accepted. It was an amazing fight. Over in less than 1 second. He asked what happened and I said “I won”. He then asked “how, you didn’t even touch me”. I said “I know.” I tried to explain why, mostly that he was a level 1 and I was a level 56. He then said he wanted a pet and I said you’d have to be a hunter to get one.

Noobs who don’t know what the fuck they’re doing are funny like that. I bet the game is confusing him. Oh well it was a fun moment.

What my dream says about me.

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Last night I had a weird dream. I was on a date with a girl who wanted a tour of the local monastery (Yeah, that makes sense…) when I suddenly found a secret wing of the building filled with centaurs and satyrs. The centaurs seemed sort of relaxed and calm about everything. The satyrs seemed sort of secretive and unwilling to talk about anything. Also the monks weren’t building the caskets, the centaurs were.

Then the monks explained that they used to live in the Vatican. They were too busy hiding them from Hitler to hide Jews in WW2.

Then I woke up and I realized that I play World of Warcraft too much.

I’d like to clean her pipes.

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

So yeah, on Sunday night the drains in the parlor got clogged up. When mom did laundry the next morning, more water came in to the parlor while we were milking. So instead of calling up the plumber man right away, we spent about two hours pushing a long metal rod in to the pipes to knock out the clog. So at that point the boss man called the plumber man and he couldn’t make it yesterday. So he finally came today and the tool he used was better and it worked right away. I was told the final bill was almost $400. I find it hard to believe they’ll spend 6 figures on a new combine, but bitch about a 3 digit bill to fix something we use every day. We only use the combine for about two months a year and yet the pipe cleaning was a rip off, even though we use the drain pipes.

Speaking of the man, I had a weird dream last night where Dad and Ed were playing World of Warcraft and they were totally kicking my ass and stuff. I was ready to get a new character and not tell them about it. Speaking of getting my ass kicked, I got killed 6 times today by other players. Once early this morning. Once at lunch time and four times by these jerks who were raiding Tarren Mill tonight. They sucked.

So yeah, I suppose that’s all for now. Just been playing lots of World of Warcraft and sleeping and working. But that’s about it.

Make pizza, not Warcraft.

So this afternoon I called up the credit union and asked them to unblock Blizzard so that I could get them the payment and start playing. And I got the person on the phone who could do that. So she said that they can now accept the charge and I went along and tried it and it didn’t work. She said wait a while and try again. So I waited 1/2 hour and that didn’t work so I’m now on hold again with the World of Warcraft billing department to see what the fuck is the matter now.

Who thought paying $5 for something could be so much fucking trouble. When the time comes, I’m just going to get the 60 day prepaid cards or use paypal instead of wasting my time on this shit again.

UPDATE 4:50 PM: It’s finally working. It was stupid. My credit union blocks charges from World of Warcraft, which I got lifted so I can finally get my regular account going and World of Warcraft was blocking my card because I had tried too many times and it had been rejected too many times. So after spending an hour on hold this afternoon, I got to a Customer Service Rep and the call dropped. She immediately called me back, which was nice. So now I have my plans ready for tonight. World of Warcraft until I fall asleep at my computer.

UPDATE 11:47 PM: Ok, change of plans. World of Warcraft until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. But I’m still awake.

A complete waste of time…

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

I drove to my credit union’s grocery store branch to get this World of Warcraft thing taken care of and get a few groceries. The teller couldn’t do anything except looked confused when she brought up my account. The teller handed this problem off to the branch manager. So I went in to her office and she tried to get this straightened out. She called up card security and they would take the hold off my account that they put on because of all the times I tried to do it on Friday night.

So she said that it should be all ready to go now. I came home and was ready to play World of Warcraft. I tried to buy the upgrade and it again did the stupid 202 Error that Warcarft has which means “Duh, we can’t do it.”

So I called up card security thing again and they said that the account is fine and that I should be able to use it and that it’s the credit union that’s blocking it. I thought that the woman at the credit union unblocked it. So I guess I’ll have to go in to the big corporate branch tomorrow to get this figured out…

This problem would be solved by the fuckers at Blizzard letting you upgrade your account by using Paypal (they only allow you to use paypal after paying for the first month?) or the fuckers at the Credit Union letting people charge stuff from Blizzard. All this trouble would be avoided if one or the other happened.

So I guess the lesson is don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Have a credit card from a company that is not in any way associated with your regular bank so that shit like this doesn’t happen. Credit cards suck and are evil and stuff, but what other options do you really have at this point? So Dave Ramsey is wrong about one thing here.

UPDATE 9:15 PM: I was talking to a friend tonight and she said her boyfriend had a very similar problem with the Final Fantasy MMORPG. He was making monthly payments for it and suddenly the bank stopped letting him. He eventually had to use one of those prepaid Visas.
