Leave it to the Vatican to complain about a religion in a fictitious movie that takes place on another planet. Actually, I heard that when the humans got to Pandora, they found some Roman Catholic Na’vi, but they cut that part of the movie out because of a bunch of liberal atheist movie execs.

Ahh, the Vatican.
Monday, February 1st, 2010First of 2010…
Sunday, January 3rd, 2010Oh yeah, I kinda forgot about the blog. Um. stuff happened, mostly WoW playing and ummm..yeah.
On New Year’s eve while playing WoW, my computer started making a loud buzzing noise that vibrated the computer and it was kind of scary. I put it to sleep and put it aside for a few minutes. It stopped making the noise, but it’s had a weird almost grinding type noise since then. Then today and tonight it made the big loud buzzing noise again. Both times, I put it in sleep mode, waited a few minutes and started it up again. It’s very annoying and kinda scary. I might have to haul it up to Madison to get the Mac store to take a look at it and fix it. I don’t have the extended warranty so if cost a lot to fix it, I might have been better off getting the warranty. Oh well. My fault, I should have gotten it when I bought the dang thing.
I also went to see Avatar tonight finally. I had sort of planned on seeing it for the past two weeks, but holiday and work stuff came up. Last week, I wanted to try to go there on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday night and all three nights I didn’t get done early enough to shower and drive in. If I had known there would be so many ads, I probably could have seen it earlier. I wasn’t going to go there on a Friday or Saturday night. Sunday or Monday nights are probably the best nights to see movies. Only people who want to see the movie show up on those nights. Friday and Saturday you get a lot of annoying people there. Those people stay home on Sunday night, it seems.
As for Avatar, it’s an amazing visual movie. There’s lots of stuff in it. The best way to see it is in 3-D (if there’s no I-Max near by). I’m a glasses guy and I think today was the first time where I wished I had contacts, it would have made watching the movie easier. But after a while I had forgot that I had two pairs of glasses on. I tried it without the regular glasses and it was blurry. So yeah, if you got contacts and are seeing the 3D, make sure you wear them instead of glasses. Or just get laser vision correctness before you go see the 3D version….
I haven’t played WoW yet tonight and it’s still making loud noises. I’m thinking I might have to call up the Madison Apple Store and see about getting it repaired. Typical. I finally get some money from the health insurance thing and I’ll have to spend it or at least some of it.
Zombieland is awesome.
Sunday, October 18th, 2009It’s like an American Shaun of the Dead, only with more guns, a giant Hummer, a Cadillac Escalade with a snowplow, Bill Murray as himself and Woody Harrelson. The cool thing is if you watch the trailer, you will not see all the best parts…just one of them.
Steelers won. Vikings won. Steelers beat the Vikings next week. It’ll be awesome. Also, the Phillies won 11-0 tonight. I’m guessing that the Dodgers won’t be around much longer. It’s looking like it’ll be a Yankees-Phillies World Series. At which point I’ll be stuck hoping that there’s some way both teams could loose the World Series.
More like chewed out. I’ve been chewed out before.
Sunday, September 20th, 2009I just saw Inglourious Basterds. That’s probably the best line in a movie ever. It’s the rare movie where Brad Pitt got all the best lines and the sexy french blonde chick was actually kinda boring. It was fun. I would have done it differently, but maybe that’s why Tarantino is making movies and I’m milking cows.
Hobgoblins Reunion?

Wow. Just wow.
New Trek.
Wednesday, May 13th, 2009Now that’s how ya do a Star Trek prequel. Captain Pike even showed up, but no Captain Pike in the stupid chair with the beeping lights, but oh well. He was in a wheel chair at then end of the movie so you can tell that he’s well on his way to the chair thing. Very fast paced and hey, it was nice that they finally gave Mr. Sulu something to do in one of the movies besides sit there and talk.
Overall though, it had the feel of the final few minutes of Revenge of the Sith where everything was where it started in the beginning, but it was all a little off. Ya know, if you squint a little and pretend it’s all the same then you can say “Well, it’s all the same…”
Strip down, oil up.
Wednesday, March 4th, 2009Wait one minute here! You’re telling me that we can’t send Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck in a couple weeks? Bullshit! They would so be up there and they would totally kick assteroid. And with any luck, Bruce Willis would live while Ben Affleck would get left there to be blown up. Oh yeah, once again, the greatest review of Armageddon ever.

Tuesday, August 28th, 2001I didn’t win the $300 million power ball thing. All of my numbers were 5, 10 or 20 off. I can’t believe that I have a better chance of getting struck by lightening than I do winning the lottery. Well, somebody has to win, why not me? That last sentence is the kind of mentality that allows the lottery to continue. Also all the copies of Shirley Jackson’s The Lottery were checked out at the library. Idiots didn’t know that there was nothing in the book that told how to win the lottery…
So in other news I bought (mom bought) some furniture for my apartment, including a new smaller dresser and a table for the computer that will be mine. I helped Jennie move to Drake on Friday. Her room is just a bit bigger than my room and she has to share it. Her roommate is cool, if you know what I mean. I don’t think I could have lived in a dorm room. They’re just to small. I need wide open spaces and stuff. Jesse will move out this weekend, so that will be cool a month of this place to my self, which will kick ass. By the way if you have the chance, rent Traffic from your local video rental place, it kicks ass and stuff.
I want flying cars.

Sunday, August 19th, 2001I must admit, I’m not exactly with it anymore. After being sick for a week and focusing on staying alive, today I made a little trip to a star wars website, where I found out, nearly 2 weeks after it was announced that the official title for Episode 2 is: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Usually I’m on top of these things, but the last 6 months or so, I haven’t paid much attention to what’s happening, because, not much is happening. I felt worse when I asked Jesse if he knew the title and he said he’s known it for 2 weeks already. So what do I think of it: I dunno. It’s a title, although not a very good one, but it’s the movie that counts.
I can imagine how this title came about. We see a board room in the Skywalker Ranch. We see Lucas, McCallum and bunch of “other” guys at the table. Lucas: “Ok guys, here’s a list of all the titles people have suggested on the internet.” Everyone gets a list with every title ever thought of. Lucas: :”Now, the problem is that these titles have been written already and we could get sued if the writer proves he already wrote the title, so we need you to come up with a title not on this list.” McCallum: “All we ask is that you come up with a title we can use, if we chose yours, you get $10 bonus.” Lucas: “So, get to work um….something like ‘Attack of the Clones’, only not so corny.” Lucas and McCallum leave the other guys to think about it after a brief silence one of the guys says: “So, ‘Attack of the Clones’ ok with everyone?” There is a general agreement about it and the meeting is over. And that lucky bum Lucas gets a $10 bonus.

Thursday, May 17th, 2001I’m moving to Cascade, IA in October with BigZaphod. For more details check out www.puddle.org, and read the WHAAASSSUPPP or something like that post.
The Pirates really suck. I’ve seen better play on a little league team filled with 7 year olds. The Pirates couldn’t beat me and my cousins at the family picnic.
I got a new 27 inch TV and a VCR. It really kicks ass and stuff. I love it.
I’m reading The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide, the entire 5 part trilogy of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. It’s really funny. I love Marvin, he kicks ass. 42, man, 42.
Also the Penguins are on their way to the NHL championship. So that will kick ass when they win that. The Pirates are hanging in the last place spot in the NL Central.
I saw the Mummy Returns a while back. I think it’s probably one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while. Sure it’s not realistic or very scary, but it’s a lot of fun. I mean when you have a small mummy guy riding a log down a ravine like Major Kong in Strangelove, how could you not love this movie. The big battle at the end was very cool. I think this is the movie Episode I could have been, but wasn’t. Only 1 year ’till Episode II.
